In this Vocabulary in Context level, students are introduced in the simplest terms to learning (analyzing) how to find the meaning of words through their sentence context. The basic source of the selected words for level A is The Reading Core Vocabulary Lists for those grade levels.
This level covers 300 vocabulary words in conversational sentences. For each set, students first read each sentence aloud or to themselves. Each sentence has a bold-lettered word that has its definition in the boxed list of 6 definitions. Students find each bold-lettered word’s correct definition from that list and, they write the letter in the blank before the appropriate sentence. One of the definitions does not apply to either of the five sentences.
There are three other integrated exercises (sentence-writing, grammar, spelling) related to this vocabulary study. Students will simply follow the instructions for these exercises.
